– 2 pounds potatoes, thinly sliced
– 1 large onion, thinly sliced

– 1 cup heavy cream
– 1 cup milk
– 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend)
– 2 tablespoons fresh parsley or dill, chopped (for garnish)
Preparation
1. **Preheat the Oven:**
– Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare the potatoes and onions as follows: Transfer the potato slices and onions to a large bowl. Add the garlic powder, salt, pepper, thyme, and a drizzle of olive oil. Toss to coat the potatoes and onions equally.
- Assemble the Bake:
- Grease a baking dish or cake pan. Cover the bottom of the dish with a layer of the potato mixture.
Pour half of the heavy cream and milk over the potatoes.
- Distribute half of the shredded cheese on top.
Reposition the Layers:
Add another layer of potatoes and onions on top of the leftover ones.
- After adding the remaining milk and cream, sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.
- Bake: – Bake the dish for 45 minutes in a preheated oven, covered with aluminum foil.
– After taking off the foil, bake the potatoes for a further 15 to 20 minutes, or until they are soft and the top is golden brown.
- Garnish and Serve: – Allow the dish to cool somewhat after baking before slicing.
Before serving, garnish with freshly chopped parsley or dill.
